BAT is one of the world’s leading tobacco companies with offices
worldwide. BAT was in the process of implementing a complex integrated
ERP system at their North American facility. As with any ERP system,
optimizing performance was a difficult task. More so because of the
various wireless and multi-vendor components those were being
integrated with the base ERP system.
Advanced QA was brought into the engagement to ensure that all the
components of this complex infrastructure perform optimally and they
meet all the defined SLA’s. Also, since this infrastructure was going
to be a blueprint for future rollouts to other facilities, Advanced QA
was asked to create a repeatable and reproducible process that could be
used for the future rollouts. The key components of the architecture
were
- Siebel Consumer Goods 7.5, with handheld functionality deployed to about 900 handheld users.
- The Siebel web application.
- An Oracle based data warehouse (DWH) used for analysis and reporting.
- An Analysis and Reporting module that included batch refresh of all static reports that were accessed via a web interface.
- External integration with SAP R/3 and a local financial system T3 that used MQSeries as the middleware.
