Extrerran is an energy solutions company offering customer’s energy
products and services portfolio with operations worldwide. They have
oil and gas production and processing facilities in every major
hydrocarbon region around the world. Their customers include the oil
and gas majors, independent exploration and production firms, and
national energy companies.
Extrerran engaged Advanced QA to test their major JD Edwards/Peoplesoft
upgrade. This was a major upgrade initiative with several new ERP
modules being integrated with the existing ones. The application was
architected for web HTTP (JAS) as well as Citrix access. The
application users were distributed across multiple continents thus
making it important to test user response times from the various
geographical locations.
Objectives:
- Ensure that the hardware infrastructure can handle the expected user load
- Test the Citrix infrastructure for scalability
- Find out the maximum number of sessions each server can handle
- Test response times over the WAN for both the web users and the citrix users
- Find the impact of the JAS packet compression setting on the end use performance
